In Redox & Electrolysis Mastery Workshop, students will learn:

- How to define oxidation and reduction (redox) in terms of oxygen/hydrogen gain/loss
- How to define redox in terms of electron transfer and changes in oxidation state
- Strategies to identify redox reactions in terms of oxygen/hydrogen gain/loss
- Strategies to identify redox reactions in terms of electron gain/loss & changes in oxidation state
- How to describe the use of aqueous potassium iodide and acidified potassium dichromate(VI) in testing for oxidising and reducing agents from the resulting colour changes
ELECTROLYSIS:
- Essential principle of electrolysis & the chemistry involved
- Selective discharge based on Reactivity Series, Nature of Electrode & Concentration of Electrolyte
- 4-steps Strategies to predict the likely products of molten binary compounds
- 4-steps Strategies to predict the likely products of an aqueous electrolyte
- How to construct ionic equations for the reactions occurring at the electrodes
- Electrolysis of aqueous copper(II) sulfate with copper electrodes as a means of purifying copper
- Electroplating of metals, e.g. copper plating, and state common use of electroplating
- Strategies to describe the production of electrical energy from simple cells
